- Psycho-educational activities
- Motivational interviewing
- Enhancement and engagement strategies
- Occupational, recreational, and other therapies, under clinical supervision and by referral
- Case management and care coordination
- Crisis intervention
- Referrals to other providers
- Documenting and reporting
- Team, supervision, and company meeting attendance

- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor - Supervisee (CSAC‑S)
- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)
- Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT)
- Resident in Counseling (RIC)
- Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
