Summary

Performs a variety of professional duties in the administration of employee disability and employee leave benefit programs; analyzes, verifies, and reconciles computerized data to ensure information accuracy; facilitates the understanding and resolution of benefits issues; networks with vendors to confirm employee status and resolve issues; maintains documentation on internal and external research; provides recommendations on communications that increase benefits awareness; produces reporting on case status;

creates and develops professional development materials; assists with other administrative procedures related to providing employee benefit programming.

Qualifications

Required

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in human resources or benefits-related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in human resources and/or benefits administration.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Knowledge of the theory, procedures, and practices related to benefit administration.
  • Familiarity with school division regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation and analysis.
  • Skill in client service/relations.
  • Ability to deal quickly and accurately with quantitative information and verify the correctness of actions.
  • Ability to research issues, analyze data, and provide recommended solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to ensure a program meets its goals.
  • Ability to produce and reconcile reporting to vendor case records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with culturally diverse school-based personnel, central office staff, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in a variety of media, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • Employee Benefit Specialist certification (CEBS).
Major Duties/Essential Functions
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and communication of disability and employee leave benefits programming.
  • Acts as a liaison for benefits information; participates in maintaining and analyzing the accuracy of computerized data.
  • Conducts internal and external research; works collaboratively with staff and other departments.
  • Networks with various vendors to confirm employee status and identify situations that impact eligibility.
  • Documents employee benefits issues that involve eligibility, plan provisions, and technology; resolves discrepancies between staff and external vendors and proposes solutions to highly escalated situations.
  • Identifies reoccurring benefit knowledge gaps and provides recommendations for communications or materials that would increase school personnel and central office staff understanding.
  • Creates and develops professional development materials that document applicable workflows, process, regulations, and disability and employee leave benefits programming best practices.
  • Develops, prepares, and/or assembles reports, charts, and graphics, as required.
  • Audits vendor case reporting to internal systems reporting to ensure data accuracy.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with established regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with analyzing and documenting standard operating procedures for the office.
  • Performs information systems testing.
  • Performs duties in accordance with policies, and regulations; may propose changes to processes and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

$75,116 - $127,822
