Database Administrator

We are seeking a qualified Database Administrator to support a potential contract award with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Human Capital Services Center (HCSC) Information Technology (IT) Support Services . This role is contingent upon contract award and will play a critical part in our efforts to deliver exceptional results for this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, optimizing , and securing database systems to support healthcare industry operations. This role requires expertise in database management systems, structured query language (SQL), and cloud infrastructure. The DBA ensures high performance, availability, and security of databases while supporting data integrity and compliance with industry standards.

R esponsibilities include:

• Administer and maintain database management systems, including Microsoft SQL Server, ETL, and MySQL.
• Develop, optimize , and execute complex SQL queries to support data processing and reporting needs.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning strategies.
• Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
• Support database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Collaborate with development and IT teams to optimize database structures and system architecture.
• Implement and manage database solutions in cloud infrastructure environments.
• Conduct database migrations, upgrades, and maintenance to enhance system performance.
• Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders regarding database-related issues.

Required Qualifications &

Experience:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of proven work experience as a Database Administrator, specifically in the healthcare industry.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, ETL processes, and MySQL database management.

Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and database integration with cloud-based platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with large-scale healthcare databases and regulatory compliance requirements.

Knowledge of healthcare data security standards such as HIPAA and HITECH.

Experience with database automation, scripting, and data warehousing solutions.

Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary is commensurate with both location and experience.

Execute tasks independently, seeking client assistance only after internal resources are exhausted, ensuring requests align with contract goals.

Collaborate effectively with team members, including AMC resources, subcontractors, and government stakeholders.

Communication/Engagement:
Maintain professional conduct in meetings and written communication, participating actively with cameras on.

Responsiveness:
Stay engaged, communicate promptly, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
