CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Database Engineer within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities. This position is located in Arlington, VA with a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities- Creating and modifying database schemas, writing SQL code, and implementing database structures based on project requirements.
- Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries, and implementing indexing strategies to improve database efficiency.
- Implementing security measures, such as encryption and access controls, to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, upgrades, and patching, to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Working with software engineers, system engineers, and other teams to integrate database systems with applications and other infrastructure components.
- Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data integrity problems.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 0 to 2 years of experience.
- Able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly; active TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like MySQL, Postgre
SQL, Oracle, and No
SQL databases like Mongo
DB. - Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying, manipulating, and managing data.
- Experience with data modeling techniques, such as logical and physical data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into database designs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their database services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams.
