Rescue’s health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13‑17), young adult (18‑26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

Rescue Agency is seeking a dynamic and high‑performing Youth Field Organizer to drive the implementation of tobacco control and nutrition/obesity prevention policy campaigns across Virginia. The role requires individuals who are collaborative, open to new challenges, and passionate about engaging and motivating youth volunteers to lead policy campaign activities in their schools and communities.

As a Youth Field Organizer, you’ll gain Knowledge of key public health issues
—you will learn about tobacco control and nutrition initiatives and how policy efforts can improve health outcomes. You will develop Community organizing expertise through Rescue’s award‑winning youth engagement model and hone campaign skills that position you for a career in community organizing, advocacy, or public policy.

• Recruit and train new and returning youth volunteers, including site visits, in‑person and virtual training sessions, and coordinating promotional efforts.
• Assist the Youth Engagement Manager and program team with developing site visits and training materials, including presentations, activities, and promotional gear.
• Track and monitor training participants and new members, including training projects.
• Manage accurate records and data for program youth members using the Online Volunteer Management system.
• Recruit and encourage youth members to sign up for campaign projects and events to maintain high participation rates throughout the school year.
• Assist youth members with planning, organizing, and implementing successful events and member meetings, and provide technical support when needed.
• Work closely with the Youth Engagement Manager to plan and prepare Y Street Leadership Team members for the Day at the Capitol, Leadership Team Summits, and other leadership events.
• Maintain frequent contact with youth members to keep them motivated and engaged with the campaigns and program.
• Collaborate with the Program Supervisor to onboard advisors and track partner schools' progress toward milestones.
• Foster and maintain relationships between school advisors and youth members.

• High School Diploma/GED
• Experience working with youth
• Excellent interpersonal skills in both one‑on‑one and group settings; must work successfully within a team
• Strong team‑building, presentation, and facilitation skills
• Commitment to mobilizing youth through strategic organizing
• Ability to motivate youth to lead and support self‑determination while creating accountability systems
• Ability to multi‑task, prioritize assignments, and demonstrate initiative
• Flexibility and willingness to pivot in response to changing needs
• High‑level competency with Microsoft Office, G Suite, or equivalent
