Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/APP) – Inpatient Gynecologic Oncology and Benign Gynecological Surgery
Join UVA Health as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Gynecologic Oncology team at UVA Medical Center. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a leading academic medical center alongside a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, and oncology specialists dedicated to providing high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities- Provide inpatient care for gynecologic oncology and benign gynecology patients, including pre‑ and post‑operative management.
- Conduct emergency room (ER) consults for gynecologic oncology and benign gynecology patients.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination of patient care in collaboration with attending gynecologic oncologists and other team members.
- Assist with discharge planning and care transitions.
- Collaborate with case management and the outpatient team to ensure follow‑up and patient optimization.
- Perform and document history & physical exams, analyze clinical data, and develop differential diagnoses.
- Prescribe appropriate therapies, monitor responses, and adjust plans of care.
- Identify appropriate sub‑specialist consultations.
- Effectively communicate plans of care with patients, families, nurses, and other stakeholders.
- 2+ years as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) preferred; new graduates welcome.
- Oncology or Gynecology experience preferred but not required.
- High level of clinical autonomy, excellent critical thinking, ability to practice independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- ACLS certification required (may be obtained upon hire).
- Collaborative, adaptable, skilled in communication within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Background checks and pre‑employment health screenings required; drug screen for safety‑sensitive positions.
- Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
- License or license‑eligible as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required. - Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs and meet physical demands as described.
