• Proficient in hair cutting, trimming, and shaving
• Experience with traditional and modern barbering techniques
• Skilled in beard and mustache grooming
• Knowledge of sanitation, sterilization, and infection control
• Ability to work with sensitive skin, thinning hair, and scalp conditions
• Proper use and maintenance of barber tools and equipment
• Respectful and compassionate communication
• Patience and empathy when working with elderly clients
• Ability to actively listen and follow client preferences
• Professional demeanor and reliability
• Cultural sensitivity and respect for military backgrounds
• Understanding of basic health precautions (cuts, skin conditions, blood safety)
• Ability to adapt services for clients with limited mobility, PTSD, or cognitive impairments
• Knowledge of wheelchair and bedside grooming techniques
• Compliance with facility health and safety regulations
• Awareness of signs of discomfort or medical concerns and reporting appropriately

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Cosmetologist License in the state of Virginia
