POSITIONOVERVIEW
A Horticulture Team Leader is an experienced team member. The primary function of a Horticulture Team Leader is to direct the activities of a team of two or more team members on a job. A Horticulture Team Leader is able to operate a variety of equipment and has thorough horticultural knowledge as well as lighting, water gardens, and irrigation.
JOB FUNCTIONS- Landscape bed maintenance: spray and pull weeds
- Pruning: horticulturally correct tree/shrub/perennial pruning and dead heading
- Plant health: identify, diagnose, and treat plant health issues regarding diseases and insects
- Irrigation: controller programming, minor irrigation repairs, and seasonal adjustment
- Water features: care & maintenance of pumps, aquatic plants, water chemistry, and fish
- Lighting: controller programming, repair and replace low-voltage lighting
- Floral services: annual plant identification, bed preparation, proper plant installation, layout, care and maintenance
- Spring clean-ups: bed cleanout, bed edging, pre-emergent, plant fertilization, and mulch installation
- Blowing: using handheld or backpack blower to blow off all hard surfaces
- Snow removal
- Any other tasks necessary
Time will be spent in an outdoor environment with limited ability to control noise, airborne contaminants, and temperature. Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
The team member is expected to work the assigned hours at Southern Landscape Group from Monday through Friday as well as weekends & overtime as dictated by seasonal needs. This is an hourly wage position with a normally expected workday of 6:50 AM until 5:00 PM.
REQUIREMENTS- A high school degree or GED is required as well as two years of documented experience in the green industry
- Must have great verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
- Must have great analytical problem solving and decision-making ability
- Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
- Ability to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workers
- Responsible for training and coaching a team of two or more team members to help develop their skills & ensure team members receive proper training
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site and ensure truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained.
- Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
- Responsible for all tools being returned to the shop at the end of a workday and tagging any tools needing repairs
