For some veterinarians, emergency medicine is exactly where they want to be—the variety, the problem-solving, the teamwork, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference when patients and their families need veterinary care most.
DVM Focus is representing an Emergency Veterinarian opportunity in the broader Western Virginia region for a doctor interested in continuing—or developing—their career in emergency medicine.
The OpportunityThis is an opportunity for a veterinarian interested in emergency and urgent veterinary medicine within a collaborative clinical environment.
The right veterinarian will value thoughtful medicine, communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt as cases and priorities change throughout a shift.
We're intentionally keeping identifying details about the practice confidential at this stage. Our first conversation is about you
—your experience, the type of medicine you want to practice, schedule priorities, professional goals, and what would make an opportunity worth exploring.
If there appears to be alignment, DVM Focus can then provide additional information about the opportunity confidentially.
What We’re Looking For- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
- Current veterinary license in Virginia, or eligibility to obtain one
- Interest in emergency and urgent veterinary medicine
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients during challenging situations
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach to medicine
- Commitment to high-quality patient care
- Veterinarians with emergency experience as well as doctors interested in further developing their emergency medicine careers are encouraged to connect
An ER job description can tell you there are cases to treat. It can't tell you whether the opportunity fits you
.
Schedule, medicine, team dynamics, clinical support, compensation, location, professional development, and long-term goals all matter—and different veterinarians prioritize those things differently.
That's why DVM Focus starts with a conversation rather than asking you to decide whether an opportunity fits based solely on a job posting.
If Western Virginia is within the area you'd consider and emergency medicine is part of your career direction, let's talk about what you're looking for and determine whether this opportunity is worth exploring.
