Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution located outside the Tri-Cities region, featuring 750+ acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the state’s oldest and largest pecan grove. The Department of Campus Safety and Police seeks an experienced (DCJS Certified) Police Officer to provide a safe and secure living, learning, and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The mission: provide emergency medical response, protect life and property, enforce state laws, and pursue a positive relationship with the campus community through a community policing model.

• Enforce state laws and campus policies, conduct thorough patrols, and investigate violations.
• Provide emergency medical response (under 911 protocols) and perform routine traffic enforcement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement community-based outreach programs.
• Maintain accurate reports and documentation of events and incidents.
• Perform duties assigned by the Police Captain and contribute to meeting the department’s mission.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current certification as a law‑enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
• U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, and possessing a valid Virginia driver’s license.
• No convictions of felonies and/or serious misdemeanors.
• Successfully pass the complete police officer selection process (physical agility test, background investigation, MMPI, polygraph, interview, and medical & drug screening).

• Prior law‑enforcement experience, especially in a campus setting, is preferred.
• Completed FEMA/NIMS IS‑100 and IS‑700 training.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
