Electrician/ Electrician Installation, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
US Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a Licensed Journeyman Electrician to work on one of our projects in Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Suffolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia. This position will be responsible for planning electrical and mechanical systems repairs, additions, modifications, and preventive maintenance on all associated equipment to the movable bridges. Provides leadership to the maintenance staff and ensures all necessary work is accomplished by planning, scheduling, and organizing work orders.
Responsibilities- Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians or maintenance personnel in applicable procedures and techniques.
- Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical and mechanical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
- Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical and mechanical equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
- May perform work of lower-level electricians or maintenance mechanics.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Reads and updates electrical and mechanical panel schedules.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, including mechanical and electrical duties.
- Knowledge of secondary electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
- Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000-volt and below electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems 1000 volt and below.
- Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
- Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position.
- Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in secondary (1000 volts) circuits and systems including cutouts, switch gear, and transformers; isolating faults in 1000-volt distribution system and replacing cable runs; operating all 1000-volt controls and switch gear including repairing and replacing those; leading, guiding and/or training other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
- High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid Electrical Journeyman's License
- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of the date of hire.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- The successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, and medical history check.
- Possession of a valid driver s license is a requirement for this job.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds.
- The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
$32.00-$35.00 per hour
The selected candidate will receive an $2,500 sign-on bonus after successfully completing 3 months of employment.
