Position Overview

Installer

III – assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various surfaces (rooftop, ground mount, dedicated structures, etc.). Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, drilling, working from height, minor electrical work, structural upgrades, operating hand and power tools, reading plan‑sets, and following safety practices and team directions.

Pay Range $23‑$26/hr. + install bonuses + benefits + advancement opportunities.

• Load and unload company vehicle with project materials.
• Transport materials to and from the roof/structure.
• Assemble roofing components efficiently and safely.
• Perform PV array electrical work independently (wire modules, DC/AC home run, Junction Box, etc.).
• Execute ground and final wire electrical work independently and under supervision.
• Install projects following Freedom Forever plan sets.
• Flash penetrations as needed to ensure project quality.
• Provide onsite guidance and recommendations to Installer I and II.
• Act as roof lead when the lead is absent.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, codes (e.g., NFPA‑70, IRC, IFC, CA‑T24), and safety regulations.
• Follow instructions given by senior crew members.
• Recommend efficiency and compliance improvements.
• Ensure customer satisfaction.
• Communicate directly with end users as required.
• Travel domestically as required.
• Drive a Freedom Forever vehicle as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 1‑2 years of PV installation experience (preferred).

• Fundamental understanding of all PV products installed by Freedom Forever.
• Basic understanding of building standards and applicable codes.
• Professional and concise communication with peers.
• Compliance with conduit installation (EMT, RMC, IMC, LFMC, FMC).
• Follow written and verbal instructions.

• Use hands to handle tools and objects.
• Stand, walk, run, climb ladders, scaffolds, or poles for extended periods.
• Perform kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling.
• Lift and carry heavy objects up to 50+ pounds.
• Perform repetitive motions and manual tasks.

Employee required to travel for business purposes, excluding commuting to and from work. Must possess a valid driver’s license, insurance, and the ability to drive a personal vehicle to different sites.

Job based in Richmond, Virginia. Not seeking remote employees.
