Field Tank Welder​/Fitter

Matrix Service is actively seeking skilled Field Tank Welders/Fitters for multiple nationwide projects. This is a travel-based position ideal for experienced welders seeking consistent hours, competitive pay, and full benefits while working on tank construction and maintenance.

Perform structural welding and grinding per job specifications

Read and follow prints, welding procedure specifications, and verbal instructions

Conduct fit-up, prep, and post-weld clean-up and repairs as needed

Adhere to project safety standards and Matrix’s core values

Maintain high quality standards with a minimum 95% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual inspections

Report to Field Foreman with job site updates and concerns

Identify and mitigate job site safety hazards

Must be able to pass the following tests:

SMAW E6010 (5P) — 3G Downhill

Prior tank-building or field tank maintenance experience

Familiarity with confined space entry and elevated work

Ability to frequently travel and relocate for projects

TWIC card required or ability to obtain

Willingness to work extended hours and weekends

Clean-shaven when required for respirator use

Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC) use may be required

Must be capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, and working at heights

Regularly lift/push/pull up to 60 lbs

Work may include confined spaces, hot or cold environments

Ability to stand or walk for 8–10 hours daily
