SummaryServes as a technical advisor in horticulture for Colonial National Historical Park. Develops and implements landscape and vegetation management plans, conducts research and monitoring, preserves cultural landscapes, and provides guidance on horticultural practices to support park stewardship and resource protection.
Duties- Performs a wide range of duties related to planning and implementing park facilities and natural resource revegetation projects, functioning as a revegetation specialist involved in the preparation and review of implementation plans, contracting documents, scopes, schedules and budgets.
- Provides technical advice to project managers and division team members related to principles of vegetation and restoration ecology, best management practices for vegetation management implementation projects, and issues related to plant materials selection as it relates to National Park Service policy.
- Performs as a revegetation specialist on interdisciplinary teams of professionals, collaborating within the division and with contractors, park, and other agency staff members from diverse professional backgrounds.
- Accountable for the implementation of revegetation projects that meet project goals, adhere to budget requirements, meet timelines, and comply with National Park Service policies for plant material usage including appropriate genetic identity of plant utilized for revegetation projects, and utilizes best available science for restoration and revegetation activities.
- Seeks and utilizes relevant National Park Service policies, best available science, available datasets, expert opinion, and division experience and data to develop implementation plans and contracts and to make recommendations to project managers, project teams, park staff, and partner agencies.
- U.S. Citizenship required.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. - Work Schedule:
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. - Minimum Age Requirement:
Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education;
(d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part‑time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
