Performs manual labor and semi‑skilled work in the construction and maintenance of County grounds and facilities. Maintains athletic fields by cutting grass, dragging fields, and lining fields. Serves as a lead worker for new hires and seasonal employees. Operates light machinery and uses hand tools to prune trees, mow lawns, remove snow, and perform other groundskeeping tasks.

• Perform manual labor and semi‑skilled maintenance of County grounds and facilities.
• Cut grass, drag fields, and line athletic fields.
• Lead and supervise new hires and seasonal employees as necessary.
• Operate light machinery and hand tools for pruning trees, mowing lawns, removing snow, etc.
• Work outdoors and along County roadways and beautification corridors in all weather conditions.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in landscape maintenance work or equivalent education/experience.
• Valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a good driving record (mandatory).
• State Category 60 Registered Technician for pesticide application certification required or ability to obtain such certification within 6 months of employment.
• Safety shoes required.
• Acceptable criminal background check.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including lawn mowers, weed eaters, chippers, edgers, chainsaws, hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning equipment, and a motor vehicle. Work involves heavy lifting, carrying materials, bending, stooping, standing, and walking while performing groundskeeping and construction activities.
