Under supervision, a Trimmer D/4th Class maintains trees for public safety. This position provides tree trimming for assigned jobs by pruning, cutting, removing, and caring for trees. In this position, you may be exposed to hazards of working near traffic, falling limbs, and energized power lines. As a Trimmer D/4th Class, attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines is critical.
A Trimmer D/4th Class receives on-the-job training, specific day-to-day directions, and is supervised. This position is the entry-level class in the Trimmer series.
- Performs tree pruning, tree removal, brush chipping, and stump grinding
- Uses climbing hooks, belts, ropes, and ladders
- Operates and services equipment and tools such as hydraulic tools, power tools, buckets, chippers, and sprayers
- Cuts away dead and excess branches from trees
- Sprays to treat diseased or unhealthy trees, including mixing chemicals and calibrating spray equipment

Trimmer D/4th Class – Entry-level; under supervision; maintains trees for public safety; essential duties listed above;
Trimmer C/3rd Class – Mid-level class; under supervision; includes all above duties plus identified additional duties.
Trimmer B/2nd Class – Mid-level class; under supervision; includes all above duties plus additional training duties and risk assessment.
Trimmer A/1st Class – Top-level class; provides supervision; serves as lead in the absence of Foreperson; includes all above duties plus training and oversight responsibilities.
What You'll Bring To The Team- Understands occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Semi-skilled in mechanics
- Must be able to complete a proficiency test consisting of climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per Company requirements
- May be required to pass a DOT physical examination to obtain the appropriate CDL
- Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities
- Attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Meet all physical requirements of the position
- Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
- 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred:
Experience with a tree care/maintenance program, including operation of stump grinders, chippers, chipper trucks, bucket trucks, and other tree-related equipment - Required:
