FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?A mortgage lender requires periodic updates on their properties. The contractor’s role is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos if the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities- Complete each inspection in 5–6 minutes.
- Submit the completed inspection within 4 days of assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in the app.
- Drive long distances and make numerous stops during the day within the assigned county.
- Computer with an internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you will pay for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Though paid per inspection, the role averages $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Volume is not capped, but higher volume counties typically have lower rates.

No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
