Sales Floor Dept Supervisor - Garden

What You Will Do

• Provide resources and tools to support associates delivering high quality customer service.
• Assist with down stocking, area recovery, and supply feedback on merchandising decisions.
• Monitor use of store power equipment; coach employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques.
• Coach and train associates, delegate tasks, follow up on daily activities, manage performance, and ensure adequate department coverage.
• Perform customer‑facing duties such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales.
• Conduct safety walks, report hazards, and uphold store safety and lifting protocols.
• May open/close the store or serve as manager‑on‑duty (MOD).
• Occasional travel for meetings, training, or support of neighboring stores.

• Hourly Full‑time, scheduled 39–40 hours per week; availability required in morning, afternoon, and evening shifts any day of the week.
• Physical ability to perform prolonged standing, sitting, and other required tasks; lift at least 25 pounds unaided.
• High school diploma or equivalent; either 3 years of retail experience OR 5 years of retail experience.
• 1 year of customer‑service experience.
• 1 year of experience supporting Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
• Experience in supervising or providing direction to teams, with or without direct reports.
• Experience in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
• Experience working cross‑functionally.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to obtain sales‑related licensure or registration as required by law.

• 3 years of retail customer‑service experience.
• 3 years of experience supporting Pro customers.
• Leadership role with direct report responsibility.
• Experience in the home‑improvement retail sector.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic retail environment.
• Experience handling key‑carrying roles with manager‑on‑duty responsibilities.
• Experience using store computer systems such as Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.
