The Armed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, visitors, and hospital property. This role supports Bath Community Hospital’s commitment to service excellence by proactively monitoring hospital grounds, responding to incidents, and coordinating with local law enforcement as needed. The position requires strong situational awareness, professionalism, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.

• Conduct routine patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security
• Monitor for unauthorized individuals, safety hazards, and suspicious activity
• Respond to alarms, non-emergency calls, and security-related incidents
• Assist with de-escalation of situations, including behavioral or medical hold situations as needed
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and incident documentation
• Secure and unlock facilities as required based on operational needs
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders when appropriate
• Enforce parking regulations and provide assistance and direction to patients and visitors
• Maintain situational awareness to support a safe environment at all times
• Carry and maintain an approved firearm for defensive purposes in accordance with hospital policy

• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)

• Three to five years of military, law enforcement, or armed security experience (preferred)

• Department of Justice or equivalent certification to carry a firearm (required)
• Firearm must meet hospital requirements and be approved prior to use
• Safety Awareness: Maintains constant vigilance to identify and respond to risks
• Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively in routine and emergency situations
• Decision Making: Exercises sound judgment in high-pressure or rapidly evolving situations
• Professionalism: Demonstrates composure, integrity, and respect in all interactions
• Teamwork: Works collaboratively to support hospital operations
• Accountability: Maintains accurate documentation and follows established procedures
• Compliance: Adheres to all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, and respond quickly to incidents
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for job duties

• Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments
• Exposure to varying weather conditions and environmental elements
• Potential exposure to combative individuals, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials
• May require rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
