Maintenance Technician

Woodberry Forest School, located in Madison, VA, is an exceptional private boarding school community for high school boys in grades nine through twelve. It is one of the top boarding schools in the United States and one of the only all-boys, all-boarding schools in the country. Woodberry's 1,200-acre campus is the largest for boarding schools in Virginia, and one of the largest private school campuses in the country.

Major Purpose

Responsible for the day to day response to emergency and preventative maintenance requests for the facilities on the WFS campus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance in response to work orders on campus that may encompass carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or other type of repair.
• Responds to maintenance emergencies that occur after normal work hours.
• Monitors the Building Automation Systems and addresses any preventative and emergency issues that may arise.
• Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures.
• Repairs woodwork with carpenter's tools.
• Repairs plumbing fixtures.
• Assists in various general maintenance projects.
• Other duties as requested.

Working Conditions

Moderate physical activity. Requires extensive movement. Work environment involves exposure to temperature extremes.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

• 3 years of experience working in various maintenance projects
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, heating, fire alarm systems
• Experience with electrical preferred
• Good computer skills
• Good verbal communication and problem solving skills

Education and Training Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
