** Primary purpose of this position:
** Weld metal pipe together for a commercial mechanical contracting operation.
** Specific

Job Duties:

*** Fuse metal pipe segments together using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.
* Weld pipe components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
* Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material
* Perform normal cutting and grinding tasks
* Ability to fit own pipe together
** Other Requirements:
*** Ability to work on a team and interact with people
* Punctual and regular attendance
* Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
* Working knowledge of applicable boiler codes
* Strong mechanical aptitude
* Must have the ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays
* Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
* Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy

* Education and Experience Requirements:

*** Must be a high school or trade school graduate or have a GED
* Three years’ experience in pipe fitting, fabricating, and welding
* Experience pipe welding to code is preferred
* Ability to obtain welding certification
*
* Physical Requirements:

*** Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
* Ability to work at heights
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and lift and carry 40 lbs. routinely
* Must be able to climb and work on ladders, scaffolding and stairs
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in order to work in tight spaces
* Must be able to use hands to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
