Position: Richmond, VA- Lvl 1 Cable Techs
Location: Sandston

Description

+ The Technician I will install a work area outlet for floor (i.e. monument), modular furniture (i.e. surface mount box) and wall (i.e. box eliminator).

+ Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.

+ Route cable through modular furniture.

+ Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables. Suspend and support cable correctly:
Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.

+  will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware)/Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.

+ performs fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.

+ terminate low-voltage devices.

+ complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).

+ adheres to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.

+ complete other responsibilities as assigned.

This project is only 2-3 months long. After this project, these techs must be willing to travel to help out the other data center sites which will probably be Atlanta or Virginia sites. Per diem is $35/day, BIR pays for lodging and if they are supporting a site for a long project, they will be asked to drive to which ever site they are supporting.

If it is only for a couple months then BIR will pay for flights.

Skills & Qualifications

Need to be reliable, willing to work with others. This is hard work but great opportunity to grow in the data center industry.

+ Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure.

+ Performing maintenance on existing cabling systems.

+ Testing newly installed or relocated cables according to company specifications.

+ Identifying and removing redundant cabling.

+ Installing of televisions, routers, and internet technology devices.

+ Troubleshooting issues with the cable network.

+ Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
