Overview

Sim Ventions, one of Virginia's best places to work, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. You will evaluate, analyze, and develop systems, including hardware, software, and interconnecting infrastructure to support or enhance the execution of operational tasks.

• In-house full lifecycle design, development, and testing of microelectronics and custom embedded systems.
• Emphasis on bare‑metal C/C++ coding for microcontrollers.
• Rapid development cycles requiring adaptability and balancing aggressive schedules with technical rigor.

• Design & Analysis:
  • Translate high‑level requirements into integrated engineering designs.
  • Conduct trade‑off analyses (risk/cost/benefit) for technical decisions.
  • Design/integrate custom electrical circuits and robust mechanical packaging.
• Software & Firmware Development:
  • Develop C/C++ bare‑metal firmware using test‑driven development.
  • Manage all code using Git Lab for configuration management.
  • Desired: develop full‑stack applications (SQL, C++ services, React/Next.js).
• Testing & Documentation:
  • Conduct developmental testing and evaluation of solutions.
  • Adhere to program configuration management and documentation standards.

• Hardware/Embedded
  
  Experience:
  
  Design, test, integration; schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium); embedded firmware for microprocessors.
• Desired Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Clearance: ACTIVE Secret clearance required; eligible for TS/SCI; US Citizenship required.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Software or Computer Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience:
  
  Mid‑Senior level; full‑time.

Projected annual compensation range: $79,000.00 – $ (USD). Compensation is determined by experience, education, training, clearance, location, skills, and corporate plan.
