General

Purpose:

Plans, organizes and implements all fitness activities.

Responsible for the financial management of the Fitness department.

Responsible for the scheduling of the department on a weekly basis.

Assists with management of the programming of all activities throughout the department.

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to:
Front Desk Staff, Fitness Instructors, Independent Contractors and Pool Attendants.

Responsible for managing the overall maintenance and cleanliness of all facets within these department, to include fitness, pool and locker room areas.

Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction.

Conduct monthly inventory checks for Merchandise, responsible for ordering and costing of products for retail.

Coordinate the maintenance of the pools, to include chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and related maintenance with the Facilities Manager and Management.

Communicates any changes or new policies and procedures to the membership and the department.

Conducts staff meetings with subordinates on a regular basis.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Education/

Experience:

• Associate’s degree (AA) in Physical Education or related field; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience and exposure with wide variety of exercise equipment, instructional techniques, injury prevention, fitness/wellness counseling, and developing/interpreting personalized fitness/wellness regimens.
• At least three years of management work experience in fitness.
• NASM or equivalent certification, AED, CPR and First Aid, Lifeguard Certification, National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (APO) preferred.

Other

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of Fitness Business, Retailing of Merchandise and current fitness trends.
