Under general supervision performs sports official duties in the Parks and Recreation Division. Duties include inspecting playing areas and equipment for safety, interacting with volunteer coaches, program participants, and guardians, explaining rules and expectations, exercising tact and courtesy, and maintaining a positive image for the division.

Specific duties:

• Officiate games as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
• Follow US Soccer rules, with local modifications as applicable.
• Keep a rule book and listen to Field Supervisor’s comments for continuous improvement.
• Explain calls to volunteer coaches and verify final scores by signing score sheets.

• Graduation from high school (preferred) or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Some sports playing and/or officiating experience preferred.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of recreation equipment and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly. Must stand/run continuously for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Position is work‑as‑required with no benefits.

Salary: $20.00 hourly
