Bus Aide

Job Summary

Provide the safest and most efficient transportation for students so as to have a positive impact on the educational programs of the county.

• Abides by all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to pupil transportation.
• Assists students on and off the bus, may require carrying students.
• Operates special equipment necessary for physically impaired students to ride the school bus.
• Attends to the individual needs of the students on the school bus.
• Participates in all meetings and training activities required by the Transportation Department to meet the needs of the students assigned to their bus.
• Strives to maintain a calm and relaxed atmosphere at all times on the school bus to ensure the safety of the students onboard.
• Maintains an open and cordial relationship with students, parents, coworkers and administrators.
• Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Supervisor of Transportation and/or Superintendent may assign.

School Bus Aide will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation or appropriate administrator. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity, hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

The noise level in the work environment may range from the low to high.
