Summary:
The Director of Curriculum and Assessment provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic and non‑academic assessment and curriculum processes that ensure quality, relevance, and accountability across all programs. The Director ensures that all curriculum and assessment practices support workforce readiness, licensure and certification success, equitable student achievement, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory agency standards.
This position advances a culture of evidence‑based improvement and innovation, ensuring that educational programs remain responsive to employer and industry needs while promoting equitable student learning outcomes.
Compensation: $85,000‑100,000/annually
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of institution‑wide, equity‑minded assessment processes for academic and non‑academic programs.
- Ensure that outcomes assessment promotes continuous improvement in learning, workforce readiness, and student support services.
- Oversee the design, review, and maintenance of curriculum to ensure alignment with institutional goals, industry standards, licensure requirements, and accreditation expectations.
- Support academic departments in aligning Institutional, program, and course learning outcomes (ILOs, PLOs, CLOs).
- Ensure integration with program review and institutional planning processes.
- Coordinate the collection and analysis of assessment data—including disaggregated student achievement and employment outcomes—to identify achievement gaps, improve instruction, and enhance graduate employability.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for internal review and external accreditation reporting.
- Lead the program review process to ensure decisions about program continuous improvement, and resource allocation are based on assessment evidence, student learning data, and workforce outcomes.
- Ensure that curriculum and assessment practices comply with accreditation standards, certification examination expectations, and state and federal regulations.
- Identify, implement, and maintain digital tools and systems that support efficient tracking and analysis of curriculum and assessment data.
- Promote ethical and effective use of technology, including learning management systems, student information systems, AI‑informed data tools, and human resources platforms.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Facilitate faculty and staff training in assessment design, use of results for improvement, and equity‑centered instructional practices.
- Collaborate with advisory boards, employers, and industry partners to ensure that curriculum remains current with workforce trends, and that assessment measures reflect job‑ready competencies.
- Incorporate employer feedback and licensure of exam performance into ongoing program evaluation.
- Manage textbook, instructional resources, and equipment selection and approval processes, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals, accreditation requirements, and continuous improvement standards.
- Stay current on emerging trends in curriculum development, accreditation, equity‑minded assessment, and career education innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned including additional responsibilities that support institutional effectiveness, accreditation, and student success initiatives.
Directly supervises Curriculum Specialists in the Academic Affairs Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
