We are seeking a qualified and equity‑minded candidate for a full‑time, tenure‑track position in the English Department starting August 2026 on the COS Tulare Campus. Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of our campuses (Visalia, Hanford, or Tulare). Committee service is encouraged.

Job Duties- Teach courses in reading and composition, critical thinking, literature, and corequisite support classes.
- Maintain office hours, engage with campus culture, and participate in departmental responsibilities.
- Create and sustain an equitable, respectful learning environment across the district.
- Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition; OR
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism; OR
- Equivalency, as detailed in the District’s equivalency policy.

Teaching Experience/Background/Training:
- Academic reading, writing, and critical thinking at community colleges
- Composition/rhetoric and co‑requisite support courses
- Support of diverse student populations (career & trade pathways, agriculture‑related majors, underprepared, non‑traditional, ELL, low‑income, migrant, and special‑needs students)
- Collaboration with student tutors and literature, creative writing instruction
Teaching Methodologies:
- Active and collaborative learning
- Student‑centered pedagogy
- Culturally responsive pedagogy
- Distance education
Professional Commitment/Development:
- Committee work and community building to create campus culture
- Curriculum development for career and technical/trades pathways and agriculture‑related majors
- Advocacy for non‑traditional students and campus‑wide equity
- Development and assessment of outcomes at course, program, or institutional levels
- Participatory governance and student advising/mentoring
- Conference/workshop presentations and publications
- Completed online application
- Equity Narrative
- Letter of interest addressing desirable qualifications
- Curriculum vitae or résumé
- Unofficial copies of transcripts (with English summaries if necessary); official transcripts required upon employment
- Equivalency documents (if required)
- List of 3–5 current references (in lieu of reference letters)
Application review begins after the closing date. First‑level interviews are scheduled for Friday, April 17; second‑level interviews on Tuesday, April 21.
