Sequoias seeks a qualified and equity‑minded candidate to fill a full‑time, tenure‑track position in the Biology Department beginning August 2026. Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the District’s campuses:
Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in governance through committee assignments is encouraged.
College of the Sequoias offers lecture‑lab pay parity, as well as overload and large‑lecture compensation that may be additional.

Job DutiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Frontiers in Biology with lab and Plant Biology with lab, both intended for non‑science majors. Additional offerings may depend on expertise and preference and could include other biology classes as determined by the college.
Other responsibilities include maintaining office hours, active engagement with campus culture, participation in departmental responsibilities, and creating and sustaining an atmosphere of equity respectful of diversity District wide.
Qualifications- Master’s in any biological science OR
- Bachelor’s in biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, marine science, bioengineering, agricultural biology, or biomedical sciences, OR equivalent.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 53022.
- Teaching experience in General Biology and Plant Biology/Botany for majors or non‑majors.
- Experience designing and implementing biology lab experiences in a college classroom.
- Experience with the community college environment and/or culture of a primarily teaching institution.
- Graduate and/or undergraduate coursework related to General Biology, Plant Biology/Botany, Animal Biology, Cell Biology, and Ecology.
- Ability to incorporate student learning outcomes and willingness to use and develop objectives and measures.
- Successful experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and use of varied teaching strategies and assessment methods.
- Ability to make a positive contribution to instruction by developing activities, syllabi, assessments, and materials.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development for consistency.
