Sequoias Community College District is seeking a qualified and equity‑minded candidate to fill a full‑time, tenure‑track position in the Counseling Department beginning August 2026.
This position reports to the Director, Access and Ability Center. Assignments may include evening weekend counseling at any of the Sequoias Community College District Campuses:
Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.
College of the Sequoias offers lecture‑lab pay parity, as well as overload and large lecture compensation that may be additional.

Ideal candidates will share the Sequoias Community College Districts' commitment to be knowledgeable about and implement equitable learning and teaching methods appropriate to serve students from all backgrounds, demographics and experiences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing the student population with verifiable disabilities with academic, transfer, and career counseling. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to conducting educational, vocational and personal counseling appointments as well as student orientation sessions for a diversified community college population.
- Interpreting standardized tests for class placement recommendations; providing follow‑up counseling services to students as stipulated by state and college matriculation guidelines; referring students to public service agencies; serving as a recruiter and liaison with high schools located within the community college district; and teaching components of guidance courses (e.g. extended orientation, career planning, and personal development) as needed; may be required to coordinate dactylology services for students.
- Determining program eligibility and accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Implementing outreach/in‑reach, workshops, career and educational goal‑setting, educational planning, and ongoing follow‑up services.
- Providing academic, career/vocational, and personal counseling and student advisement.
- Providing interactive counseling related to the management of a student's disability; assist a student to resolve issues that may be preventing the full achievement of their goals.
- Interpreting of assessments and academic evaluations to support student planning and services.
- Providing counseling to Career Technical Education (CTE) and transfer‑bound students.
