Position SummaryWe are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator with a knack for written storytelling to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for writing and scheduling compelling content for our social media platforms, print materials, and newsletters. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to launch their career in communications. This role will directly assist in broadening awareness about the FFWW programs and impact.
ResponsibilitiesContent Creation and Scheduling
- Ability to identify organization's brand (tone, preferred verbiage) in order to maintain consistency between future written and past content.
- Write original content for email campaigns, newsletters, and other outreach materials.
- Edit and optimize content for both social media, email, print, and website use.
- Create concise narratives for impactful digital and print design materials that align with organizational goals.
- Create compelling, mission-driven content, including eblasts, historical narratives, promotional materials, and social media content, tailored to various platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, You Tube, Linked In, etc.) aligned with the branding and values of the organization.
- Responsible for scheduling, maintaining, and updating social media content, ensuring language and content are consistent with brand standards.
- Contribute creative ideas for improving engagement and enhancing the user experience on social media and the website.
- Partner with program staff to ensure digital and print content supports organizational initiatives and events.
- Monitor and respond to follower interactions to build relationships and grow online communities.
- Stay informed about trends, tools, technologies, and audience preferences to elevate the organization's visual identity.
- Track the performance of campaigns using data analytics tools and use data to refine content.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Prior internship, volunteer, or academic experience in writing, journalism, or social media management is a plus.
- At least 1 year of professional experience writing (e.g., social media, newsletters, blogs, press releases, or similar).
- Awareness of challenges faced by the veteran community and a passion for supporting their empowerment.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create concise and impactful messaging without the dependence on AI.
- A solid understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube).
- Willingness to learn and use social media analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Google Analytics, etc.).
- Be able to coordinate with Designers proficient in design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar software. Bonus if you're familiar with these tools.
- Basic knowledge of office software and website content management systems (e.g., Word Press, Squarespace, Wix).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Creative, proactive, and eager to learn.
