Casual Machine Inserter

CASUAL MACHINE INSERTER role at Penny Saver USA, Vista, CA. The role supports the crew leader with a predetermined rotation of work stations, including inserting, sorting, tying, and stacking materials. Maintains production quality and housekeeping standards and follows safety procedures. Schedule as needed based on production volume. Weekend work required.

• Jog and load product into a mechanical inserter through manual and/or mechanical devices such as hopper loaders.
• Guide bundles from stacker to strapper, assuring a smooth and efficient product flow.
• Stack and flag material in preparation for shipping according to postal requirements.
• Feed product into the inserter and ensure quality of finished packages.
• Return leftover inserts to the correct container/skid to prepare for relocation by the material handler.
• Maintain a safe work area by following all safety and housekeeping rules at all times.
• Ensure required paperwork is ready for processing (zone sheets/flags).
• Report production problems (jamming, tearing, non-inserted product, etc.) to the Crew Leader.

• Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, push/pull, bend and carry up to 2/3 of the time.
• Talk or hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 1/3 of the time.
• Lift up to 50 pounds up to 2/3 of the time.
• Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral and depth perception.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

• Working near moving mechanical parts in an environment that may contain fumes or particles 2/3 or more of the time.
• Working in high and/or precarious places, around toxic chemicals, and driving a forklift may be required up to 1/3 of the time.
• The work environment is loud. Ink mist and paper dust are commonly present.
