Department: Adult Ministry

Reports To: Associate Location Pastor

Hours: Part-Time (25-29 hours per week)

Schedule:

Current church calendar rhythms entail that this role has its largest focused projects in the summer/ fall, but ongoing flexibility is required throughout the year. In addition to being present for weekly meetings and most services, involvement by phone, text, and email is important.

Status: $30k - $40k

Job Summary:

While working with/on the Adult Ministry Team, this team member will lead and mobilize ourchurch into joyful and impactful community and cultural engagement.

The team member in this position will lead, care for, and engage with various ministries andareas of the church to support engagement in justice work and create opportunities for thechurch body to grow through the serving of others, both within our city and globally.

Supervision Received:

Reports to Associate Location Pastor but will also seek guidance and supervision from theCare Pastor (at least for the first year of employment) to help manage, execute, and organize various details.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain relationships with current non-profit partner organizations to meet the needs and cultivate strong service connections.
  • Focus on church-wide service projects 1-2 times per year.
  • Create serve opportunities at other times in the year based on the needs of certain organizations.
  • Connect with members and ministries in the church to support their efforts toward outreach projects and ideas.
  • Facilitate mission trips in line with our partnerships and focus.
  • Manage disaster relief and emergency responses.
  • Document and collect stats for all wins to use for giving reports and celebrations in service.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and care for volunteers while demonstrating strong administrative skills.
  • Maintain a posture of being ready to help with or lead various additional Adult Ministry Team needs.

    • Ability to plan, multitask, and execute a workflow and a wide variety of details at the same time.
    • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems with a posture of extreme ownership.
    • Ability to self-lead efficiently and effectively.
Additional

Skills Required:
  • Manage database for registrations and requests.
  • High organization and project planning skills.
  • Recruit and maintain relationships with volunteer teams, including looking for coaches to invest in and lead different areas of outreach.
  • Capturing and sharing stories through brief writing.
  • Be able to lead conversations with political officials and non-profit leaders.
  • Represent East Lake Church in all public spaces.
  • Continue to learn about issues of justice and grow in cultural awareness as it pertains to the outreach vision.
  • Follow and execute the vision of the Senior Pastor and Executive Team while taking ownership of how best to carry that out.
  • Collaborate with and lead alongside the larger Adult Ministry Team.
Working Conditions / Requirements:
  • Present during service times and meetings.
  • Ability to drive within San Diego County for meetings.
  • Church staff is required to abide by the Cultural Expectations (tithe, attendance, conduct, etc.).
