Position Summary
The Kitchen Aide is responsible for the assisting other center staff in preparing, serving and cleaning up after all meals and snacks served at PACE Day Center.
Essential Functions of the Job- Assists other center staff in meal and snack preparation following approved center menu. Prepares all meals in a safe and sanitary manner, following accepted dietary standards and practices.
- Purchases supplies necessary to prepare meals for center as outlined on approved center menu.
- Assists dietician with menu planning.
- Records number of meals and snacks served daily.
- Records food temperatures daily.
- Assists other center staff in serving meals and snacks.
- Under Nurse/RD supervision responsible for ensuring all special diets ordered are served to the appropriate participant.
- Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness in the food preparation area.
- Responsible for cleaning of kitchen including refrigerator and freezer; responsible for ensuring freshness of all food.
- Responsible for ensuring that all open containers have been labeled and dated.
- Attends center staff meetings and in-service educational training programs.
- Cleans and sanitizes tables, chairs in main floor after meals
- Ensures that all kitchen area, equipment, floors, and pantry are thoroughly clean at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must possess the skills necessary to provide services for geriatric patients and must be able to function well in a team environment; minimum one year preferred
- Meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by San Diego PACE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Food Handler’s Card (preferred)
- Applicable Sanitation Certification (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to comprehend both written and spoken English.
- Demonstrate ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate in working with others.
- Demonstrate respect for diversity.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet established deadlines. Ability to comprehend program guidelines and help staff manage their time and achieve program goals.
- General office equipment to include Computers, phones, copy machines, fax machines, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), etc.
Physical Requirements
- Physical clearance for reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and grasping.
- Have a full range of motion.
Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
