Position Title: Deli Clerk

Classification Status: Non-Exempt

Work Status: Part-time

Reports To: Deli Manager

The Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and presenting deli products while providing exceptional customer service. This role ensures compliance with food safety standards, maintains product quality, and supports inventory management and receiving processes. The Deli Clerk works as part of a team to create a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.

• Prepare, cut, wrap, weigh, tare, price, and display deli department products in accordance with company standards.
• Take and fulfill sandwich and specialty orders accurately.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper rotation; report any issues to management.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and stocking merchandise; verify that deliveries match vendor invoices.
• Price, display, store, or break down products following company policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and report low stock, spoilage, or damaged items to management.
• Handle spoiled or damaged products safely and according to company policy.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety policies, including proper use of equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Provide friendly, courteous, and prompt service to all customers.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and food prep areas.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor with a positive attitude toward customers and colleagues.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Current Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain one upon hire.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and company policies regarding product freshness, refrigeration, and handling.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and walk for 6–8 hours during an 8-hour shift.
• Hand use includes grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and variable temperatures:
  • Freezer: 90°F
• Ability to work in wet and cold environments safely.

Availability is required for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
