Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, the Patient Care Technician assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients, and family members. Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

• Support activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
• Demonstrate standard precautions including care of patients in isolation and safe patient practices.
• Perform technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care (specific to population served) with appropriate documentation.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN and respond appropriately.
• Reinforce education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
• Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals, and in performance improvement activities.
• Assist in orientation of new hires.

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards; strong communication skills.

• High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED) required.
• Must have successfully completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have a minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience.

• BLS certification required.
• Phlebotomy training/education required for Emergency Department positions.
• Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies through ongoing education and training.

Hourly Rate: $18.88 - $28.29. Actual salary will vary based on experience and internal equity plus market data.
