POSITION SUMMARYIn coordination with IT Management, the Data Engineer will create and support new ETL, database processes, and data storage architectures in service of Sunrise Bank’s Fintech business and core banking processes.

- Work on the integration and maintenance of applications and their databases
- Apply a thorough understanding of application and data technology, tools and existing designs
- Assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met
This position will also include data work in the creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a variety of data sources. Using SQL skills, you will work with the data sources of a variety of applications at all levels from simple queries to creation and design of complex data workflows.

SQL structures - Participate in and contribute to Sunrise’s data analytics and cloud-based strategy
- Bridge the gap between traditional data architecture and emerging cloud architecture, assisting in the evaluation and deployment of toolsets and solutions
- Automate file ingestion, validation, and delivery workflows across internal and external systems, reducing manual intervention and operational risk
- Develop event-driven and schedule-based jobs to orchestrate end-to-end data flows across databases, file systems, APIs, and third-party platforms
- Demonstrate excellent documentation skills by clearly recording incidents, resolutions, and permanent fixes to support auditability, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement
- Perform root-cause analysis on data discrepancies, missing records, and processing errors across upstream and downstream systems
- Validate data integrity and reconciliation results between source systems and downstream reporting or risk platforms
- Implement preventative fixes, including enhanced logging, error handling, and alerting to reduce repeat incidents
- Support production on-call rotations, responding to alerts, coordinating incident resolution, and communicating status to stakeholders
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, particularly in the ability to interpret business requirements and interface with business lines for greater clarity
- Work well in a team atmosphere where one is comfortable assisting other team members and being assisted by them

- 2 Year college degree/certificate or business-related field preferred
- 5+ years SQL Server experience including DDL and DML required
- 3-5 years creating and maintaining complex SSIS packages required
- 2-3 years Azure SQL experience required
- 1-2 years Azure Data Factory experience preferred
- 1-2 years No
SQL/Data Lake experience preferred - 1-2 years Snowflake, Databricks and/or Python experience preferred
- Experience in the financial industry preferred
- High competency in Microsoft Office applications required
- A comprehensive skill set in SQL server development methodologies and relational database concepts is required
