- Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for Texas and other states where Chaparral operates.
- Ensure proper tax application on construction-related purchases and services, including materials and subcontractor transactions.
- Maintain and validate exemption certificates for construction projects and customers.
- Monitor changes in tax laws affecting construction and insulation services.
- Calculate, report, and remit payroll taxes at federal, state, and local levels.
- Ensure timely filing of payroll tax returns and deposits.
- Assist with payroll tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Support internal and external audits related to sales, use, and payroll taxes.
- Prepare tax reports and provide analysis for management.
- Work closely with accounting, HR, and project management teams to ensure accurate tax reporting for construction projects.
- Provide guidance on tax implications for material purchases, subcontractor agreements, and project bids.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, preferably in Texas and multi‑state environments.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Familiarity with tax application in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (e.g., Pro‑Contractor, Avalara, Vista, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with tax audits and working with state tax authorities.
- Knowledge of lien release processes and compliance requirements for Texas construction projects.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
