Knife River offers excellent opportunities for growth within our Asphalt Paving Road Crews. Our crews operate pavers, screeds, rollers, distributors, and perform laboring duties such as raking and shoveling asphalt. Share your skills and talents with us by applying today!

• Perform physical tasks in high traffic areas, in all weather conditions
• Operate heavy equipment related to asphalt paving
• Place, shovel, and rake materials with hand tools
• Lift, carry tools and materials
• Operate plate whacker and jumping jack
• Control and guide machines to lay asphalt
• Fill tanks or hoppers with paving materials
• Spread and compact asphalt paving
• Ensure all machines are well-maintained and inspected
• Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to finish roads
• Operate other machinery such as loaders
• Push dump trucks to maintain asphalt flow into hoppers
• Drive or attach machines onto trailers
• Regulate screed temperatures and light burners on machines

• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, and stand for long periods
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Adherence to safety procedures
• Experience with asphalt paving preferred
• Equipment operation skills are a plus
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
