We are seeking ministry‑mindful individuals to join our After School team as an After School Counselor. This non‑exempt, part‑time position averages 17–20 hours per week and focuses on fostering youth development in an after‑school setting by leading elementary students in enrichment activities. The counselor is expected to devote themselves to excellence, wholeheartedness, and helping kids reach their full potential, serving as a role model in the community.
At Mentoring Alliance After School we hire teachers, youth workers, teen workers, college students, mentors, and others to serve and develop kids in our programs. As a Christian ministry we are dedicated to providing after‑school care and activities that mobilize godly people into the lives of kids and families, offering tangible help and eternal hope. Every staff member is integral to our mission and vision and is considered a minister of the gospel.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
- Agree with and exhibit behaviors in accordance with the Mentoring Alliance Statement of Faith
- Must be at least 17 years of age; a High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred and some post‑secondary training highly preferred
- Have a passion and love for working with elementary school‑aged children
- Experience working with elementary school‑aged children is preferred
- Able to work Monday – Friday 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. during the school calendar year
- Ability to earn CPR/First Aid certification (mandatory)
- Pass mandatory background/sex‑offender check
- Valid driver’s license or valid
- Legally allowed to work in the United States
- Have dependable transportation
- Spanish‑speaking ability greatly valued
