Texas State Technical College (TSTC) seeks an experienced Instructor in Diesel Technology to deliver approved curriculum and facilitate student learning.
About the RoleAs an Instructor, you will engage students with innovative techniques, assess progress, and mentor for academic growth. You will integrate technology, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with student services to promote retention.
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality instruction and facilitate student learning.
- Develop syllabi, instructional plans, and daily class organization.
- Implement activities that engage diverse learning styles and provide mentorship.
- Interpret and administer assessments, offering constructive feedback.
- Maintain student records, schedules, and an instructional environment focused on safety and equipment security.
- Provide timely student advisement and collaborate with the Office of Student Success for tutoring and retention programs.
- Participate in recruitment events, tours, and assist in department planning for recruitment.
- Demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity.
- Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in diesel technology teaching.
- Five or more years of experience in the diesel industry.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, perform resistance checks, measure voltage drops, check fluid levels, service tire pressure monitoring systems, repair and rebuild engines, perform steering & suspension repairs, diagnose systems, service air and hydraulic brake systems including ABS, and maintain HVAC 134a & 1234yf systems.
- Manufacturer’s certifications (preferred).
- Experience in heavy‑duty equipment mechanics and supervisory/management experience (preferred).
- Teaching or team‑leading experience (preferred).
- Seven or more years of truck and/or equipment maintenance experience (preferred).
- Professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved by the Vice Chancellor.

$68,400 - $78,661. Final salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
