Overview

A member of the technical staff, the Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new transformers up to full production. This includes specification reviews, design reviews, mechanical designs, customer submittal packages, pre-production builds and transfers to production. The Electrical Design Engineer is also responsible for technical support of in-production transformers throughout the manufacturing process.

Essential Functions
  • Daily On-Site Attendance.
  • Performs various engineering tasks involving design, development, preparation of electrical and mechanical drawings, technical support, and assistance in testing.
  • Designs liquid-filled distribution-type transformers through electrical and mechanical interpretation of purchase specifications.
  • Performs optimized calculations and computations to plan and implement specific transformer design procedures.
  • Analyzes and develops wire schematic diagrams.
  • Interacts with customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Creates test reports and leads witness testing.
  • Assists Sales & Marketing Team with transformer designs for quoting purposes.
  • Creates Bill of Materials in Net Suite.
  • Assists Supply Chain Management with the purchasing of transformer parts and materials.
  • Inspects the transformer throughout the manufacturing process and coordinates any necessary design revisions with the appropriate Manufacturing department.
  • Participates in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Environment/Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Factory Floor.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the hours necessary in order to timely and satisfactorily complete all necessary work tasks.

Travel

Regular travel is not required for this position.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.

• 0-5 years’ experience in Design/Engineering.

• Microsoft Office proficiency.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of Solid works/CAD 3D/2D modeling experience preferred.

• Knowledge of Net Suite preferred.

• Strong academic background in Electrical Engineering (Power & Electromagnetics) preferred.

• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
