Sr. Digital Project Engineer – Mars

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our MW NA Regional Engineering Controls, Automation, & Digital Team. The role will be responsible for designing and managing the implementation scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, issues, risk, and stakeholder communication for digital and data projects across the North American region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Digital and Data projects across the Mars Wrigley North American region.
  • Provide innovative engineering solutions that drive accelerated improvement in TRS, PCC Costs, Safety, Quality, and Customer Service Levels.
  • Utilize resources across local, regional, and global teams to accelerate roadmaps.
  • Support the Smart Factory Program.
  • Design end-to-end architecture.
  • Create site engagement and perform site assessments.
  • Perform physical OT integration, OT-IT integration, and activate use cases.
  • Handle control systems project engineering when required.
  • Conduct change management (training & reinforcement).
  • Support deployed applications to realize value.
Digital Knowledge
  • Advance digital maturity across the region through technical skill development and a user‑centric digital culture.
  • Understand Digital Twin, digital, and data technologies and how they improve manufacturing and business performance.
  • Own the vision and long‑term strategy of digital products aligned with the global manufacturing digitalization strategy.
Business Focus
  • Ensure delivery of objectives for scope, time, budget, cash flow, and value creation.
  • Maintain project adherence to scope and critical success factors.
  • Communicate with the digital project steering team.
  • Apply technology to sustain a competitive advantage.
  • Implement lean principles in engineering and as a project deliverable.
  • Measure and improve business outcomes such as Economic Profit.
  • Understand the impact and value creation of digital technologies at the manufacturing site.
  • Deliver business outcomes and validate real customer value.
  • Act as the connector between business teams, DT teams, engineering teams, MES teams, and site teams.
Functional Responsibilities
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge.
  • Design systems and select hardware or manage third‑party engineers to meet contract deliverables.
  • Improve personal efficiency and performance to provide added engineering value.
  • Partner with Value Stream leadership to supervise commissioning, validation, and startup activities.
  • Provide advanced problem‑solving analysis and data tracking for continuous improvement.
  • Support safety and security policies.
  • Contribute innovative ideas for competitive advantage.
  • Protect and expand intellectual property.
  • Ensure successful deployment of new capabilities.
  • Coordinate training and knowledge transfer for user adoption.
  • Govern and maintain process documentation.
Leadership Requirements
  • Support project objectives and challenge misaligned activities.
  • Directly manage all assigned project work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Digital Technology related field.
  • 3+ years of comparable technical experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or related industry.
  • 2+ years experience with Digital Technologies.
  • Track record of using data and metrics to design strategies, identify, and implement improvements.
  • Understanding of process and packaging applications.
  • Understanding of digital technologies.
  • Good communication, listening, and influencing skills.
  • Critical thinking and innovative thinking skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other groups.
  • Approximately 50% travel requirement depending on project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, Ph.D.).
