Position Summary: L3
Harris MMG Division is seeking an experienced Aircraft Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer for our onsite aircraft modification facility located in Waco, TX. Competitive benefits and a generous relocation package are offered to qualified candidates.
- Fatigue analysis of aircraft structures.
- Crack growth analysis of aircraft structures.
- Development of specific mission profiles and usage spectrum for modified aircraft.
- Determination of inspection intervals for delivered aircraft.
- Design support and drawing review.
- Generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal load distributions, local stress concentrations, and operational usage environments.
- Travel as necessary.
- Obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Work any shift, including weekends and overtime as required.
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
- Demonstrate effective leadership qualities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or equivalent, with minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree (MSME, MSAE) and minimum 7 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 13 years of experience.
- U.S. citizen.
- Experience with predicting crack initiation lives and running industry-standard crack growth programs such as AFGROW, NASGRO.
- Working knowledge of programming languages.
- Knowledge of military (Mil Standard) and civilian (14 CFR) certification regulations and ability to provide substantiation data.
- Developing Airworthiness Limitations for structural modifications.
- Experience with standard Nondestructive Inspection methods and detectable crack growth flaw sizes.
- Experience with Dynamic Response Fatigue Analysis (High-Cycle Fatigue) in high vibration or acoustic settings.
- CAD or FEA tools exposure, mechanical design or analysis experience.
- Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, automation, and software programming for numerical analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
