Position Description
The Process Controls Engineer will help drive continuous improvement projects and lead infrastructure automation upgrades to keep automation systems up-to-date and mitigate obsolescence. The role requires expertise in PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, and Servo System programming and troubleshooting, as well as masterful Ethernet Network configuration and diagnostics and SQL Server development. Additionally, the Engineer will enhance the skills of Controls Technicians, Electricians, and Instrumentation Technicians through training program development and delivery.
EssentialFunctions
- Utilizes expert knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, Ethernet Networks, and I/O networks to troubleshoot controls automation system issues, determine root cause, and implement timely, permanent solutions.
- Uses condition monitoring tools to perform predictive maintenance (PdM) analysis on production equipment to identify pending maintenance issues, issue PM work orders, and prevent emergency breakdowns.
- Analyzes performance trends and conducts root‑cause corrective action to drive improvements.
- Drives continuous improvement opportunities to improve plant performance and machine reliability.
- Promotes infrastructure automation upgrades and establishes automation disaster recovery strategy.
- Leads a team of electricians and develops training plans to improve the team’s skillset.
- Diploma or degree in Electronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Rockwell Automation PLC, VFD, HMI, and Servo System programming and troubleshooting expertise.
- Experience programming PLCs using RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, and Factory Talk Studio software.
- Knowledge of Device Net and Ethernet I/P.
- Remote communication and I/O systems experience.
- Experience with virtual network and thin clients.
- SQL Server experience (preferred).
- Licensed Industrial Electrician (preferred).
- Ability to establish, meet deadlines, and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to initiate, compile, analyze, and provide accurate reporting.
- Confident, approachable, energetic with eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
