Harris MMG Division is seeking an experienced Aircraft Stress Engineer for our onsite aircraft modification facility located in Waco, TX. We offer competitive benefits and a generous relocation package for those who qualify.
- Predict internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structure.
- Generate free-body diagrams of structural load paths.
- Determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
- Document and report analysis results.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design team to help develop structural load path concepts, and to size structural dimensions and features.
- Review and approve structural engineering drawings as part of the release process.
- Mentor less experienced stress analysts.
- Automate repetitive analytical tasks.
- Work in a collaborative team environment, as a member of the larger Flight Sciences Group, and across all disciplines within an integrated project team.
- Thorough understand industry-standard classical hand analysis methods.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Ability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required to meet business objectives.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree (BSME, BSAE, BSCE) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree (MSME, MSAE) and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Finite-Element Modeling (FEM).
- Experience with MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN, or FEMAP is preferred.
- Experience analyzing composite structures.
- Experience in Matlab or Mathcad.
- Experience with FAA and/or Military Airworthiness requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and have general computer knowledge.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
