The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager as part of the Quality Organization. This position will be responsible for the Calibration, Maintenance and Repair of a variety of Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). While in this role the Quality Engineer will ensure all site calibrated equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to ensure accuracy in accordance with industry standards and company processes and procedures.
EssentialFunctions
- Develop, implement, and manage calibration procedures and processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and quality systems.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
- Analyze calibration data and generate reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits as required to assess effectiveness of applied processes and compliance with applicable industry standards and company procedures.
- Site calibration system Subject Matter Expert (SME). Provides technical support and training for calibration systems, requirements, and techniques to other team members.
- Conduct Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA): identify defect trends, correct non-conformances, develop preventative and corrective action plans.
- Utilize Lean methodology to continuously improve calibration methods and techniques to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain calibration database for all internal instruments and monitor due dates, perform calibrations, and maintain accurate records and documentation of all work performed.
- Coordinate all calibration with external calibration vendors for instruments that cannot be calibrated internally.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; or Graduate Degree with minimum 2 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience.
- Background in Quality Engineering.
- Ability to thoroughly investigate quality issues methodically, ultimately producing a report that identifies containment, root cause, and corrective and preventative actions.
- Excellent technical writing, oral communication, and presentation skills for reporting and briefing customers and senior leadership.
- Familiar with MS Office products.
- Familiar with Quality and Aerospace Industry Standards (ISO
9001:2015, AS9100D, AS9110C, CMMI, etc.). - Ability to acquire a Security Clearance if required, which requires US citizenship.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of measurement science and the ability to use a variety of metrological techniques.
- Familiarity with interpreting technical specifications and standards.
- Proficient with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, torque testers, multimeters, gauge blocks, pin gauges, etc.
- Experience in a Calibration Lab or similar environment performing calibration on TMDE.
- Quality inspection and audit experience.
- Understanding of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) 8D Methodology.
- Lean Six Sigma.
- Familiar with DCMAINST 8210 Requirements and oversight.
- Experience in performing ISO/AS9100 audits.
- Certification from a recognized body (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician or Engineer) – a plus.
