Sanitarian role at City of Waco, TX. Grant funded, on-site position. Starting salary: $25.30 per hour – Depending on qualifications.

The City of Waco Health Department seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitarian to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will safeguard the health and well-being of the community by ensuring compliance with state and local environmental health regulations. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 30 credit hours in natural or applied science courses is required.

• Perform environmental health inspections and investigate complaints to verify compliance with state and local regulations, including food quality and safety, wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, air quality, water quality, insect and animal vector control, recreational and institutional facility inspections, consumer health and occupational health and safety.
• Organize and present training programs; apply and enforce statutes, regulations, ordinances and policies; prepare summaries and status reports; ensure services meet program requirements.
• Respond after hours as needed for emergencies.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Science, or a related field with at least 30 hours of Natural and Applied Science coursework.
• Minimum 6 months of inspection experience (food, health, or safety inspections) or equivalent; additional education can substitute for experience.
• Registered Sanitarian from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation within 2 years of hire date.
• Sanitarian Registration requires a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree with 30 hours of Natural and Applied Science.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
