Position Summary
The La Vega Independent School District is seeking a qualified, highly motivated Police Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across all district facilities and events. This role requires a proactive, community-based policing approach within an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in school-based law enforcement or patrol experience
- Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or school safety
- Familiarity with multi-hazard emergency operations plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Maintain a visible law enforcement presence on assigned campuses
- Protect the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors
- Respond to emergencies, criminal activity, and disciplinary incidents
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws, as well as district policies
- Assist in emergency drills and campus safety planning
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to support a safe learning environment
- Participate in threat assessment team and safety committee efforts
- Provide mentoring and educational support to students when appropriate
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Assist with traffic control and security during arrival, dismissal, and events

- Must hold a current Texas Peace Officer License issued by TCOLE
- Must be eligible to work in the State of Texas
- Must meet all requirements of Texas Education Code 37.081 and 37.0814
- High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, psychological evaluation, physical agility test, and drug screening
- Must live within McLennan County or be willing to relocate within the county
$27.12/hour to $38.19/hour, 226 days per year, 8 hours per day
