Position Summary

Dakota Premium Hardwoods is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Corporate CDL Driver to support our Waco Corporate Office through local transfer operations. This position is primarily responsible for transporting lumber and plywood materials between Dakota branch locations, offering consistent routes, minimal stops, and an excellent work-life balance.

This is a local driving position with home-daily routes, early start and finish times, and limited customer interaction. The ideal candidate is an experienced CDL driver with a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and pride in operating professional equipment.

Work Schedule & Routes

  • Local, recurring transfer routes serving Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston
  • Typically one to two stops per route, almost exclusively at Dakota branch locations
  • Occasional customer deliveries or vendor pickups as business needs require
  • Typical workday: approximately 3:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends as needed
  • Home every day
  • Early start time allows for early completion of the workday

Equipment Operated

  • Tractor with 48-foot curtain-side trailer
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission in compliance with CDL regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport lumber and plywood materials primarily between Dakota branch locations
  • Complete daily transfer runs with minimal stops
  • Secure loads using industry-standard strapping and safety procedures
  • Assist with unloading as required at branch locations
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Operate equipment safely and in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Represent Dakota Premium Hardwoods in a professional manner at all locations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current, valid, unencumbered CDL license
  • CDL license must not include an automatic transmission restriction
  • Proven experience operating manual transmission commercial vehicles
  • Experience with tractor and 48’ curtain-side trailers
  • Knowledge of DOT safety regulations and proper load securement
  • Ability to safely lift, strap, and assist with unloading materials
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Strong safety awareness and team-first mindset

Compensation

  • Hourly position with weekly pay
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
  • Overtime and bonus opportunities available
